As other reviewers have aptly pointed out, you should be concerned about the content in this textbook if you consider yourself a well-learned reasonable person. For those who are taking classes where this is a required textbook, I'd warn you to steer clear of that class as you will not learn much as far as critical thinking and cosmopolitanism is concerned. You are wasting your time and opening yourself up for indoctrination, narrow thinking and victim mentality if you rely on this book or author. This book was insular abnd a left wing liberal multicultural politically correct narrative.... what is fascinating is how the authors and their worldview/perspective sit in a bubble completely divorced from the reality that is in mainstream American culture..... perhaps some of the observations and research (that btw seem cherry-picked) while voluminous, seem to the rank and file person somewhat skewed and targeted rather than a reflection of reality... I am sorry if you have to read this book for a college course or the like... it's not a casual read by any means.... finally, if you are a European-White-Male, this book will offend you practically on every page....
